nest fest

Our award-winning school partnership program, Project NEST (Nurturing Environmental Stewardship Together) recently celebrated a leap forward: our first youth summit! The successful venture in late February brought together 60 students from Lylburn Downing MS and Maury River MS.

During the day-long conference on the W&L campus, students interacted with conservation professionals, brainstormed conservation actions for Woods Creek, shared ideas with a community leadership panel, and made new friends.

Of students surveyed, 43% agreed that NEST FEST increased their thoughts about pursuing conservation careers, 83% agreed it helped them see themselves as active earth citizens, and 100% agreed there should be another NEST FEST next year.

This inaugural event was made possible with support from the Just Pax Foundation, Mohawk Industries, and donors to our annual NEST Education Appeal. Thank you.
