Custom Programs & tours
Community groups may contract with Boxerwood for customized programs and tours. Our program fee is based on the length of the program, the number of participants, and the extent of staff labor required for the program's creation and implementation.
Groups wishing to secure a program and/or tour must contact the Education Director to discuss their request, determine its feasibility, and secure a quote. Scheduling is subject to staff and facility availability and cannot conflict with Boxerwood's own programming, which maintains priority. Boxerwood staff reserves the right to determine whether a proposed activity is a private event (rental) or a custom program.
We reserve the right to decline any external program or self-led group visit requests. Learn more on the large group visits page.
Custom program/tour fees are based on the organizational rate of $50/hr per staff hour, including preparation and clean up. The minimum fee we charge for conducting a custom program/tour for groups of 10-20 is $75. The minimum fee we charge for conducting a custom program/tour for groups of 21-30 is $150. It is unlikely we can accommodate any group larger than 50 or 60 people, and our preference is to work with groups of 30 or fewer. For billing purposes, every attendee is included in the program headcount (teachers, parents, children, etc).

custom program policies
You are responsible for bringing trash bags and removing all trash and recycling from Boxerwood after your program ends. Do not leave any garbage in our receptacles.
There is no indoor bathroom available. Porta-pottys are on site by the Play Trail and near the lodge and Roost. There is also a porta-potty in the field ~April until September.
Boxerwood staff will be on site for tours and custom programs. Their time is part of the calculation of your tour or program fee.
You may bring chairs to the field/stage, but not to other areas of the garden. Picnic blankets are permitted.
Your program will take place at one or more designated areas in the garden. The rest of the garden remains open to the public and may not be reserved solely for your program.
CONTRACT & Payment
After determining the parameters of your tour or custom program, the Education Director will email you an invoice.
