Sustainability Workshop Coming to Boxerwood February 17

An activity-oriented science class teaches internationally-renowned framework

Boxerwood will be hosting a workshop Saturday afternoon, February 17th, from 2 pm to 5 pm  called Sustainability 101. Through simulations and games, this workshop will lay the foundation for understanding a clear, science-based framework for sustainability.  Participants will learn about The Natural StepTM, an internationally recognized and open source set of principles that can guide our stewardship of our homes, our businesses, our schools, our towns, and indeed, our world.

The workshop will be led by Catrien van Assendelft, Boxerwood’s new Sustainability Manager. She brings over 12 years of experience as an environmental and social science educator and sustainability professional.  She hopes that Boxerwood can grow its role as catalyst for positive change in the region through broader educational outreach.  Levy Schroeder, Boxerwood’s Executive Director at Boxerwood states, “This workshop on sustainability is only the start of some new and exciting stewardship programming we have planned for 2018.”

Whether you are a business manager wanting to jump start your sustainability efforts, or a teacher looking for techniques to introduce students to sustainability, or simply someone who would like to make sense of the growing phenomenon called sustainability, this workshop offers an engaging, interactive way to get you started.  The workshop cost is $25 for non-members and $20 for members.
