“We can’t do it without you,” goes the saying, but that’s really true here at Boxerwood. Volunteers run our board, teach our children, paint our signs, welcome our visitors, tend our woodland garden and more. Earlier this month we feted our volunteers as a way to say thanks, reflect on a great year, and share what's on the horizon.

Mother Nature graced us with an unseasonably warm day to hold the gathering in the Pavilion on Nov. 6. Folks enjoyed meeting one another and talking about the many ways they give their time and talents to Boxerwood. By the numbers, Boxerwood volunteers had a very busy and successful 2022:

  • Education volunteers assisted with many of the 92 outdoor programs we provided this fall for our preK - HS friends.
  • Kiosk Ambassadors welcomed visitors to the Garden 32 weekends this year – a great help!
  • Garden volunteers arrived weekly through the growing season to expand and maintain the garden beds at the entrance, in the Play Trail, in the native plant area, and in pollinator garden.
  • Volunteer parkers, greeters, cider sellers, pumpkin carvers, storytellers, and others ensured good times were had by all during our six summer music concerts and two spooky evenings at the Pumpkin Walk.

Many hands made light work and ensured our community felt Boxerwood's presence throughout the year. For this wonderful gift we say THANK YOU!! It truly wouldn't be Boxerwood without you. As we wind down the calendar year, we are excited about plans to strengthen volunteer programming in the year ahead.  Check out the revamped volunteer webpage for a sneak peek: boxerwood.org/volunteer

We look forward to working alongside you in 2023!
