Boxerwood’s mission is to educate and inspire people of all ages to become environmentally successful stewards of the Earth. We base our work locally because that is where we live and where we can make the most difference: our land, our people. An important yet quiet partner in this work is the County of Rockbridge.

Eco-Puppets Prevail
It was the BEST of times and the worst of times. Quarantines. Snow days. 15 little boys at 4:30 pm in the afternoon 2x/wk. This winter two Boxerwood educators brought creativity, puppet-making, and storytelling to children attending BEST, an afterschool program in Buena Vista.
Seeing the Daily Anew
Does wonder exist in a middle school schoolyard in February? Ask 12 year-old photographers. This winter Boxerwood pioneered a Nature Photography Club as part of an afterschool program at Maury River MS. Led by Boxerwood educator Brittany Klinger, the youths ventured twice a week into their schoolyard to have a fresh look.
More Than A Window
These are magic windows. Look through them and you can see even more clearly the Earth and our commitment to it. You can also see the kindness and goodwill of the volunteers who made it happen, and the generosity of donors. As with most things at Boxerwood, there’s more to these windows than meets the eye.
Partner in the Picture: Washington and Lee University
COREworks is a Boxerwood initiative but it shares DNA with our eco-minded friends at W&L. A student group donation got us rolling, a W&L community grant kick-started the research and advice from budding lawyers kept us prudent and legal.
Next Steps
