Partner In the Picture: The County of Rockbridge

Boxerwood’s mission is to educate and inspire people of all ages to become environmentally successful stewards of the Earth. We base our work locally because that is where we live and where we can make the most difference: our land, our people. An important yet quiet partner in this work is the County of Rockbridge.

For the past several years, the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors has helped strengthen Boxerwood’s educational mission through annual jurisdictional funding. This $9,000 allocation is valuable in its own right, but it is also a vital match or leverage for other grants Boxerwood pursues. The County’s first-in funding is something we can count on and build on. It is a modest yet fruitful investment that supports the needs and delights of the community we both serve.

Since these funds ultimately come from those of us who pay taxes – thank you, fellow citizens. And thank you to the public servants for their trust in Boxerwood and its mission. Not all communities have leaders and administrators with sufficient vision for promoting public environmental education and conservation. We are fortunate to live where we live … but most of us already know that. It’s why many of us call Rockbridge County home.
