Education Appeal 2024: Help Raise Earth Stewards

What do a wind farm project manager, forest ranger, conservation biologist, solar developer,

firefighter, filmmaker, outdoor educator, and nature writer all have in common? As children, they all participated in a 2004 Boxerwood camp. It’s an informal sample from just one roster, but the pattern is clear. We’re making a difference.

Thanks to your Boxerwood support, every year more than 2,500 local kids touch the Earth and plant their dreams. From preschool through high school our hands-on programming helps youth develop the skills, knowledge, and motivations to care for the Earth, our home.

School buses are rolling again and we do need your help. Last year, more than 75% of children participating in Boxerwood programming were eligible for free lunch. Boxerwood is committed to ensuring our programs remain accessible, which is why we provide program fee subsidies for school partners in need.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 for the 24-25 school year. Can you help us? When you donate to the Boxerwood Educational Foundation (BEF), 100% of your gift directly supports nature-based learning for local kids. The future farmers and engineers and artists are already among us. Let’s ensure we root them well in Boxerwood soil.

P.S. Those children from 2004 were among the first wave of youngsters to enliven Boxerwood under the guidance of Mollie Messimer (1952 - 2023), our founding education steward.  How grateful we are for her vision and leadership. Please consider honoring her legacy with a gift to BEF today.
