Spring Series 2018: Performance in the Garden

April 21, 2018 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

$12

Spring Series 2018: Performance in the Garden

This outdoor site-specific workshop with choreographer Mauri Connors will lead participants through observation of the natural environment. Where are opportunities for performance in our everyday surroundings? How can the natural environment be an integral part of performance? Come move and speak with us to find out!

No prior artistic experience necessary. However, the workshop would be ideal for youth age 11 up and adults who are interested in dance, theater, music, and performance art.

Mauri believes that greater exposure to natural spaces has a direct correlation to caring for them. Mauri’s goal is to make work as an artist that gets her audiences into natural spaces to increase that exposure. Mauri first explored Boxerwood as a child attending local schools and has returned to the Garden many times since then for delight and inspiration.

Mauri Connors received her BA in Dance from Connecticut College in 2015. She has performed with Jenny Davies/Progeny Dance and was a performer in Vicky Virgin’s Arm Dance #1: Forgiveness, a dance for camera. She has worked extensively to produce indoor and outdoor dance productions and to present work at various festivals.
