A Little Hope Goes A Long Way

Remember our Boxerwood Summer Stories Series? We’re happy to report four of those stories have been picked up by the Blue Sky Funders Forum, a national collaborative that advocates for greater investment in outdoor learning. This means that what we have shared from the heart Boxerwood is now lighting other hearts coast to coast.

The purpose of the Blue Sky Funders Forum is to promote to the philanthropic community and the public “the many benefits of environmental literacy and stronger connections to nature.”  Comprised of 35 major corporate and family foundations, the network is considered a leader in promoting the benefits of nature-connected children and societies. As Blue Sky puts it, “we are a community united in the belief that when people have meaningful experiences outdoors their quality of life, health and social wellbeing improve, and in turn, their communities become stronger and more sustainable.” As one way of furthering  that understanding, the network is disseminating a digital “inspiration book.”

This compilation arose from Blue Sky’s fall 2020 conference,  “Sharing Hope, Deepening Connections, Aligning Actions: A Just Future for People and Nature.” Boxerwood was among several dozen outdoor education providers invited to attend that virtual summit, and one of sixteen to contribute stories to the Blue Sky collection. If you didn’t get around to dipping into Boxerwood’s summertime stories the first time around, you can read them here.
