Fairy Forest Festival Schedule

Saturday, April 23, 2016

10am - 4pm

Boxerwood’s grand opening event will run from 10am to 4pm, featuring miniature craft activities, music, storytelling, and vendors, including the “Little Cheerful” food truck that will sell lunch and snacks.

A variety of fairy crafting stations will be set up in the morning. Visitors can imagine and create their own fairy folk, design furnishings and decorate doors for fairy houses, plant magic beans in a fairy flowerpot garden, and make tiny watercolor paintings.

Music and storytelling will go on at intervals, throughout the day. Admission is free, but a small materials fee will be charged for take-home crafts.

At 1:00, craft stations will close and visitors will gather at the portal in front of the Fairy Forest. After a brief vine-cutting ceremony, the magical realm will be open to all.

For the next two hours, teams of volunteers will be assigned a building site and begin constructing houses for fairy occupancy. Others will help Lexington art teacher Nicole Ross yarn-wrap trees in the Forest to add color and draw the attention of meandering fairy folk.

At 3:00, construction will end for the day, and builders will offer Fairy House tours before the close of the festival. Builders may return at any time, any day, and as often as they like to continue adding their touches to the ever-changing fairy architecture.
